Luther Buren (LB) Groover, age 71, of Tyrone, Georgia passed away on December 23, 2020. He was born November 10, 1949 in Montgomery, AL to the late L. B. Groover, Jr. and Jean Venable Groover of Wetumpka, AL. Mr. Groover was also predeceased by his brother Matthew Groover of Bristow, VA.
L. B. and Carolyn (Mahoney) Groover met at Auburn University while playing in the band. They were married in 1971. L. B. served in the USAF before moving to Peachtree City, GA; where he worked for Alenco for ten years. He worked for the Department of Children and Family Services for twenty years and retired in 2009. He was a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America, a member of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, Order of the Arrow, and the National Model Railroad Association. L. B. exemplified the Boy Scout Oath and the Boy Scout Law every day of his life.
He is survived by his Spouse, Carolyn M. Groover, Tyrone; Sons, Kevin Groover and wife Jodi Groover of Newnan, GA; Bert Groover and wife Casie Groover of Peachtree City, GA; Grandchildren: Grace, Emily, and Charlotte Groover of Newnan, GA; Mayson and Marian Groover of Peachtree City, GA; Sister, Elizabeth Law of Wetumpka, AL; and Sister-in-law, Sandy Groover of Bristow, VA.
Services will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newnan, GA. Date and time to be determined when the COVID restrictions are lifted.
