Mr. Malcolm "Mal" Vernon Holden Jr., age 73, of Peachtree City, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Mal was the son of the late Malcolm Vernon Sr. and Gladys Holden. He was born March 16, 1948 in Copperhill, Tennessee. He grew up in Epworth, Georgia where he attended school K-12 and fondly spoke of his memories on the baseball field and all the "Epworth boys". Upon graduating high school, he moved to Carrollton, Georgia where he attended the University of West Georgia and obtained a degree in economics.
Mal was married to Cathy Craig on May 31, 1975. They were married for 46 years. They have two children, Kurt (Shelah) Holden and Whitney (Tray) Russell. They have four grandchildren that were the light of Mal's life, Jonathan and Roxanne Holden, Lyla and Adalynn Russell. His precious memory will live on through each of them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm Vernon Holden Sr. and his mother, Gladys Holden; beloved sisters, Joyce Thomas and Nancy Platt; and his aunts, Chlora, "Cheesy" and Vera Holden.
Mal stated, right before becoming sick, that "next to God, family is the single most important thing in this life". He cared deeply for others, was fiercely loyal, and was generous with what God blessed him with in life. He rarely met a stranger and never held back on sharing a joke. He loved a hard days work, yard work/gardening, baseball, his Atlanta Braves, time at his North Georgia cabin, traveling with his wife and friends, and precious time with family.
Malcolm professed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and departed to his eternal home with our Lord on September 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him but we take heart in knowing he is fully healed in the presence of our Jesus and we shall be with him again one day.
