Martha Kay McKinnon

Martha was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 12th, 1945. She graduated from Muscatine High School in Muscatine, Iowa where she excelled in speech and debate. She studied at the University of Nebraska. Her career spanned over 35 years, primarily in the technology industry. She passed away unexpectedly on March 16, 2024 in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Michael McKinnon; her parents, Jack and Rosemary Williams; and her brother, Mark Williams.

She is survived by her sister, Amy (Robert) Cheek; her brother, Brad (Anne) Williams; her nieces, Danielle (Benjamin) Hunt, Maria (Tyler) Edgeworth, Jennifer Williams (Bobby Miller); nephew, Matt (Sammy) Williams; her great-nieces and great-nephews Wyatt, Dallas, Knox, Bryson, Brooklyn, Braelyn, Miles, and Harrison; her aunt, Margaret Ann Benson; and numerous cousins. Through her marriage to Michael McKinnon, additional family members who will miss her are Michele (Tim) Crumpton, John McKinnon, Ian Britt and his children, Ryleigh, Russell, Micah, and Malachi.

Martha was loved and respected for her fierce independence, inquisitive mind, warmth, and sense of humor. She and Mike traveled together across the United States as well as Switzerland and Italy. They shared unforgettable experiences from the beauty of Sedona, Arizona to the grandeur of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. They were devoted to each other, and she missed Mike dearly since he passed away in 2022. She will be laid to rest next to him at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, GA.

She was the beloved “Aunt Martha” to the Cousin Camp Kids and devoted sister to her siblings, especially her brother, Mark, to whom she was an unwavering guardian.

She loved life and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held, in the chapel, for Martha Kay McKinnon on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 10:00 am (EST) at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269.
