

Mrs. Mary Katherine Tasker, 78, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Peachtree City, GA. Born on November 22, 1947, in Harvey, ND, she lived a life marked by compassion, service, and dedication to others.
Mary graduated from Drake High School in 1965 and attended Valley City State University in North Dakota, where she pursued a degree in education. Her journey took a joyful turn when she met her future husband, Mike Tasker, in a cowboy bar in Black Eagle, Montana - beginning the enduring “Mike and Mary saga.”
From 1968 to 1971, Mary embraced life as an Air Force wife and mother while stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base, where their first son, Eric, was born. Later, she began her professional career as the Personal Property Appraiser for Fayette County, GA. Affectionately known as “Golf Cart Mary,” she became a familiar figure through her work assessing taxable property. She retired in 1999 when the family moved to Huntington Beach, CA.
In California, Mary served as an ombudsman with the Council on Aging in Orange County for 17 years, advocating for residents in care facilities with unwavering dedication. In 2016, she and Mike returned to Georgia, where she continued to volunteer and support charitable causes.
Mary was a proud member of Sigma Beta, a national charitable Sorority, for over four decades, contributing countless hours to fundraising and community outreach. Mary was voted as ‘National Girl of the Year’ twice for her numerous contributions. A devoted Christian throughout her life, her final place of worship was Southside Church in Peachtree City, GA.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Tasker; children, Eric and Elizabeth Tasker, Keith and Angela Tasker; grandchildren, Kyuss Tasker, Anne Maison Tasker, and Drake Tasker; and siblings, Patsy Richter, Irene Berndt, Jim Paulus, Frankie Paulus, and Ricky Paulus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Regina Paulus; and siblings, Rene Kramer, Rodger Paulus, and Blaine Paulus.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269. A reception will follow at her residence. Mary will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
