Melvin Carl Whetstone

Mr. Melvin Carl Whetstone, 71, of Union City, GA passed away on November 1, 2023. Melvin was born June 6, 1952, to the late Jake & Marie Whetstone in Kildare, TX. He served in the United States Army, and after serving his country Melvin began his career in the auto collision industry. He retired and spent most of his time enjoying family and life.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Melvin was a role model to many. He loved Jesus and wasn’t ashamed. He was a true definition of change. Melvin did everything his way until the end. In his words, “Take care of your business and your business will take care of you!”

Mr. Whetstone is survived by his spouse, Cherylette Whetstone; sons, Demarr (Shima); Otis; daughters, Margo (husband, Reginald); Latrisha; Charity; Valerie; Alexandria; Cori; Canisa (husband, Eddie); Calese; Casey; Cheri (spouse, Dollar); grandchildren, Malik, Amenitra, Amarian, Airion, Darius, Malachi, Jayden, Jayda, Jace, Courtney, Antionette, Kevin, and a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn (husband, Mack).

He was predeceased by his parents, Jake & Marie Whetstone; sister, Shirley, and brother, Jake, Jr.

A Celebration of Melvin’s life will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home in Union City, GA.
