She is survived by a loving family - her daughters, Pamela McGinnis and Debby Couch and her Husband Rodney Harris, her step-daughter, Dr. Marcia Glass and her husband Stewart Glass. Nellie had seven precious grandchildren, Donia Duenas and her husband Elmer, Matthew Couch, David Couch, Hunter McGinnis, Roger McGinnis Jr. and his wife Monet, and step-grandchildren Stephanie Larn and Stacy Thornton. Her nieces, Kim Gregory and Marcy Montejo, were like daughters to her. She had six great-grandchildren - Tres, Camila, Sofia, Jude, Isla, and Elmer.
She was preceded in death by her sisters and best friends, Maureen Brown and Beatrice Weller, and her husband Glen Cordrey.
Nellie was born and raised in Coral Gables, FL but lived the past sixty years in the Atlanta area. She was most proud of being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked as a claims adjuster, sold real estate, was a beauty advisor for a cosmetics company, and lastly a flight attendant.
Nellie’s hobbies were playing bridge and spending time with family and friends. Glen and Nellie loved travelling together and especially cruising.Nellie had a heart after her Lord and Savior’s, Jesus Christ, and spent countless hours volunteering, driving friends and family to doctor’s appointments, and serving wherever she saw a need. Some of the places she volunteered were her church, Fellowship of Christian Airline Personnel and Fayette Senior Center. She loved to tell everyone she met of God’s faithfulness to her. Most of all she wants to be remembered for her family verse, Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
