Oksana embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. She loved traveling the world with her family and playing a variety of sports. She saw the good in everyone and had a keen sense of humor. Her family and friends will remember her sparkle and smile always.
After struggling with drug addiction for eight years, Oksana lost her battle. She fought hard to overcome the insidious pull of drugs that grabs hold of too many of our loved ones from all walks of life. Oksana went through rehab five times, lived in two sober living homes and experienced trauma. There were times her family didn’t know where she was. With each recovery there was hope. With each relapse there was despair. The pain of her death is heartbreaking and intolerable. Oksana talked about getting better so she could help others. If sharing her story can save another life, another family, her wish will come true.
Our grief is made bearable only by the knowledge that her suffering has ended, and she is at peace.
Oksana is survived by her parents, Shane and Donda Hansen; and her brother, Alex; and sister, Brenna; grandparents, Jack and Marylin Hansen; grandparents, Edward and Linda Portka; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A service will be held on November 22, 2020 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory in Peachtree City, GA. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Mustard Tree Foundation, www.mustardtree.net. This is a non-profit organization serving young people struggling with addiction.
