Orlando K Westover, 81, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2025. He was born in Holbrook, Arizona on April 7th, 1944, to Earl B. and Margaret (Webb) Westover of Joseph City, Arizona, a small Latter-Day Saint community along Route 66, where he helped his family run a Guernsey dairy farm. His first job, at a young age, was delivering milk to customers in the city of Holbrook in the hours before school. He enjoyed these rides with his dad in the family milk truck, and this instilled a strong work ethic in him.
He loved exploring, digging tunnels with his brother and cousins, building and riding scooters, painting cars and engaging in church activities while growing up. During the summer before his senior year of high school, he won both the local and state contest for the National Teen Age Safe Driving Roadeo sponsored by the United States Jaycees.
After graduating high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New England area where he shared his faith throughout Boston, Maine, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and other parts of Canada. Upon returning, he completed an accounting degree at Arizona State University in just three years.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Sylvia Greer, his eternal companion. Together they shared 58 years of marriage, raising 5 children, and building a legacy that includes 11 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.
Orlando began his career working for two CPA firms before he ventured on his own with offices in Chandler, Gilbert, Show Low and Springerville, Arizona. He provided tax services, audited cities and schools, and briefly owned a health club. He even received the key to the city of Tombstone, Arizona, for doing a phenomenal job on their accounting. His interest in computers and accounting software led him to a big move to Newnan, Georgia in 1987, where he was successful at modernizing government accounting for cities and municipalities across the state.
A lifelong learner and adventurer, Orlando became a private pilot in 1976. He enjoyed having several planes over the years and taking family and friends on short trips as well as cross country voyages. He also had a keen interest in building and construction and built several houses over the years. Faith was central to Orlando’s life. He cherished his membership in the church, serving in various roles, including clerk, ward mission leader and home teacher.
He will always be remembered for his big grin, his quick wit and one-liner jokes, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness. He was a devoted husband and father whose positivity and faith left a lasting imprint on all who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Flora (Ned) Tiffany and Brent (Valaine) Westover. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; siblings, LeGrande (Pat), John (Mary), and Margie (Gary) Russell; and children, Greer (Pamela), Michelle (Belinda) Crews, Elizabeth (Jim) Lachemann, Rebecca (Brian) Finell, and Amy (Matt) Harrelson; along with 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 821 Old Atlanta Hwy, Newnan, GA 30263. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 noon.
