Penny Montgomery was born on October 20, 1965, in Fairbanks, Alaska, the beloved daughter of Harvey S. Montgomery and Wilma Irene Gilliam Montgomery, both of whom preceded her in death. Surrounded by love and memories, Penny left this world on May 22, 2025, to be reunited with her cherished momma and daddy—likely at the most beautiful beach in heaven.
Penny’s journey was marked by compassion, determination, and deep love. She pursued her calling, in nursing, at Valdosta State College, later moving to the Metro Atlanta area to begin her career in labor and delivery - a field she passionately dedicated her life to. Always striving for excellence, Penny went on to earn both her master’s and doctoral degrees while continuing to care for countless mothers and newborns with unwavering dedication and heart.
To know Penny was to know love. She adored her family—especially her momma—and her loyalty to those she loved was unshakable. She is survived by her devoted sisters: Gail Richardson (Scott), Joy Roberts, and Debbie Chesney; and her nephews—Cody, Aaron, Christopher, Alex, and Eric—each held a special place in her heart, and she took great pride in watching them grow.
Penny’s deep bond with her dogs was legendary. They were her constant companions—so much so that she wouldn’t dream of going on vacation without them. Her home was filled with warmth, wagging tails, and the gentle sound of paws.
Though we will miss Penny every single day, we find peace in knowing that she is now pain-free and surrounded by love in heaven. Her generous heart, her infectious laugh, and her nurturing spirit will remain with us always.
Rest easy, dear Penny. You are home.
