Philip Z. Gunn, of Newnan, GA, known as Phil by his family and friends, passed away at a nursing home facility on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from dementia at the age of 65. Phil was born to Clifford and Lillian Gunn in Miami, FL on October 24, 1959.
Phil graduated from Osborne High School in Cobb County, GA. Phil worked for several years at Lockheed and was a Groundskeeper at Southern Technical College in Marietta, GA where he enjoyed weed eating and cutting grass. He was a Florida Gators fan and always kept up with the Top 25 Football stats. He enjoyed Western Movies and drawing Western and Scottish figures. Phil had a lot of pride in his Scottish Heritage.
Phil grew up facing intellectual challenges in his life and lived his last 20 years in assisted living environments.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Lisa Gunn of Newnan, GA; numerous cousins in the Atlanta, GA area; and the Grant family of Florida.
Private memorial services will be held by the family for Phil. There will not be any public services.
