Raymond Addison McAllister, Sr., passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, at his home in Sharpsburg, GA at the age of 94. Born on August 29, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, Raymond was a beloved child of God, a loving husband to Myrtle McAllister, a dedicated father to Gail Moulds, Janet Sterns, Raymond "Chip" McAllister, and Joel McAllister, and a proud grand-pop and great-grand-pop to his 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was also very close to countless other extended family members.
Raymond led a remarkable life, filled with numerous accomplishments and cherished memories. He excelled in sports, participating in football, baseball, track, and basketball from his youth through his 15 years spent in the Half-Century Softball League in St. Petersburg, FL. Raymond's athletic abilities were matched only by his storytelling skills, as he was known as the world's best storyteller, leaving no detail unshared or shared again!
As a Philadelphia native, Raymond had a deep appreciation for everything Philly. He was a connoisseur of the city's sports teams, food, neighborhoods, and history. His love for Philadelphia extended to his pride in his life, family, chickens, garden, and property in Hayesville, NC. Raymond's generous spirit was evident in his commitment to serving others, always going above and beyond to support those in need, mainly through filling their stomachs with a nice, warm meal.
A visitation and celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Georgia.
