Richard Lamar Duke

Richard L. Duke, 70, of Sharpsburg, died June 30, 2017. He was born in Atlanta on January 24, 1947 to the late James H. Duke and Eva Grizzell Duke Creech. He grew up in Fayette County and Ben Hill. After high school, he graduated from Atlanta Area Technical College. Mr. Duke was a member of Banner Baptist Church in Atlanta. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Industrial Air Conditioning Inc. for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Parlier Duke; son, Richard “Shane” Duke of Sharpsburg; brothers, James H. Duke of Woodstock; Jerry Lee Creech of Atlanta; Larry David Creech of Marietta; brothers-in-law, Ray Parlier and Roy Anthony Parlier, both of Port Orange, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Camp Memorial Park with Rev. Lee Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Newnan, 15 W. Washington St., Newnan, GA 30263.
