It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce that my sweet dad and our loving grandfather Robert (Bob) Edward Hayes passed away on January 10, 2018 in his home in Peachtree City, GA. He was born in Nocatee, FL on November 5, 1936.
He graduated from DeSoto High School and Florida Southern College where he was a founding member of the Kappa Alpha Chapter. He was a Lieutenant in United States Army. He was a probation and Parole supervisor in Glades and Hendry County for 25 years. He was an avid reader and fisherman. He was a true southern gentleman, a thoughtful giver of gifts and a lover of good food that would rival any foodie. He loved falling asleep to sound of a steady rain.
Even though he lost his sight in recent years, he listened to the television and books on tape so that he always had something interesting to add to the conversation often entertaining us with outlandish facts and unbelievable current events. To say he was a Florida Gator fan, just does not do it justice – he loved Florida football, although this year’s season may a have hampered his health. He will be missed by all those they knew and loved him. I look forward to seeing him again and hearing him say, “Hey darlin’, I was just thinkin’…”
He is survived by his daughter, Shannon; son-in-law, Vince Dattilo; his grandchildren, Christian, Addison and Maggie Jo; his step-daughters, Carol and her husband, John Herring, her sons, Kyle Saleeby, Sean; and Jennifer Saleeby, their daughters, Autumn and Scarlett; Sherrie and her husband, Kirk Rogerson, their children, Zac and Jordan; her husband, Chris Bray, their son Miller; Cindy, her children, Blake, Leah, Alyssa and Lauren, her husband, Barrett Folk; he is proceeded in death by his wife, Nancy; his mother, Dorris; and his, father Dave Hayes.
A memorial service will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269, at 6pm on Sunday, January 14, 2018. The family will visit with friends after the service.
