Ronald James Strawcutter

Ronald James Strawcutter of Peachtree City, GA passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2026. Born on December 5, 1939, in Grand Ledge, MI, Ron lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those around him. He was 86 years old. Raised by his parents, James and Alice Strawcutter, Ron carried forward their legacy of warmth and integrity.

He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School class of 1957. After high school Ron chose a path of service by enlisting in the Marines immediately after, foregoing his graduation ceremony to serve his country. His career was marked by dedication and hard work as he became a respected parts salesman, working for Diamond Reo Trucks, Osterlund Giant Trucks, and finally retiring from Spartan Motors Inc.

Ron was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, GA. His faith guided his life and interactions with others, providing him with a community in which he found joy and purpose. He was a man of many interests, known for his love of Houghton Lake, MI, where he and Rose spent their retirement years enjoying peaceful pontoon rides and hosting family gatherings where he shared his love of the lake. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, walking in his yard, and deciding which tree needed to be removed next.

A visionary ahead of his time, Ron saw potential where others saw none, often flipping houses as a hobby before it became popular. He was a man who took pride in his work, whether it was renovating homes or ensuring his family understood the importance of civic duty, particularly the right to vote—lessons he imparted with passion and conviction.

Known for his warm smile and chuckle, Ron had a knack for making those around him feel at ease. His sweet tooth was well-known, and his grandchildren could always count on finding a stash of candy and ice cream treats at his house. Ron was a man who lived life fully, valuing family, hard work, and the simple joys of life like watching Fox News.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his cherished daughter, Dana Alwine; and an infant son. Ron is now reunited with them and at peace.

Ron’s spirit and memory will live on through his devoted wife, Rose Strawcutter, who shared a life filled with love and laughter with him. Together, they built a strong family foundation centered around their two surviving children, Dawn (Bob) Metzger of Fayetteville, GA, and Ryan (Jessica) Strawcutter of Elkridge, MD. Ron was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Brittany (Roger) Becker, Amber Alwine, Katelyn and Kayla Metzger, Mason, Hunter, and Bridget Strawcutter. His legacy continues through his two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Alwine and Paxton Becker. He always found joy in his conversations with his brother Rick (Betty) Strawcutter where they shared memories and politics. His family was his pride and joy, and he loved nothing more than sharing his life and his treats with them.

A Celebration of Life Service was held for Ron on August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 700 Ardenlee Parkway, Peachtree City, GA 30269.
