

Born on April 19th, 1943, in Kinston, North Carolina, to Anthony J. and Fronnie F. Dowdle, Sharon, aka Shay, led a very colorful life and always had great stories to tell.
She graduated from Barry College in Miami, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry and worked as a schoolteacher prior to getting married. She married David Lee Hamon on December 28th, 1965, in Miami, Florida. After getting married, Shay and David lived in many different places while David was in the Navy and later in the airline business.
Shay loved art, science, animals, nature, and her family. She especially loved her two granddaughters and all of her cats (many, many cats).
Shay is survived by her daughter, Cindy Wade & her husband, Donnie Wade; by her son Chris Hamon & his wife, Jennifer Hamon; her granddaughters, Georgia and Scarlett Wade; her sister, Antoniette Rinehart; many nieces and nephews; and numerous beloved friends from throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband David, and many other relatives.
She will be buried at Honey Creek Woodlands Memorial Nature Preserve on Thursday, March 26th, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
