Alexander Paul “Alex” Carson, 20, of Pearl was born March 9, 2004, in Flowood, Mississippi, and was a 2022 graduate of Pearl High School. Following graduation, Alex enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served as a combat medic in Quicksilver Troop, 4th Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment. He had recently returned from a deployment to Korea and died tragically in an accident on November 16, 2024, while serving our country at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood), in Killeen, Texas.
Beyond anything, Alex loved his family and friends. He loved people and made friends fast wherever he was. That love for people led him to his call to serve. He wanted to make a difference, to help people, and to serve his country. What Alex will never know is that he made such a huge difference in so many lives just by being himself. Alex will be forever remembered by how he lived his life, with compassion and purpose and laughter and love.
Alex was preceded in death by grandfathers, George Dunne, and Larry Lee Carmikle. He is survived by his mother, Shannon (Clint) Steele; father, Rocky (Brandy) Carmikle; brother, Logan Carson; grandmother, Dorothy Dunne; grandmother, Clara (Larry) Kegley; stepsisters, Karissa, Kylie, and Khloe Steele; stepbrothers, Justin and Christopher Roach; along with uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, in the funeral home chapel. Alex will be laid to rest at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Disabled American Veterans in Alex's name.
