Anne Louis Blalack

October 7, 1936March 18, 2020

Anne Louis Blalack, 83, passed from this life Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at her home.

She was born October 7, 1936, in Booneville, Mississippi, a daughter of the late John Louis Mitchell and Annie Ashworth Mitchell. Anne was raised in Indianola, Mississippi, where in high school she was selected as a member of the prestigious Mississippi Lions All State Band. Following high school graduation she attended the University of Mississippi where she was chosen to be a member of the official dance team, the Ole Miss Rebelettes.

Following her marriage, Anne became a wife and mother, the roles she most delighted in. She truly loved caring for her family as she nurtured her children and was a steadfast advocate for her beloved husband. Anne also dedicated her time to teaching local children to play piano.

When her children were older Anne returned to her schooling and graduated from Belhaven University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. She enjoyed more than 20 years as a teacher with the Jackson and Pearl Public School Systems.

Anne’s hobbies included shopping and collecting antiques, which she painstakingly re-furnished. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John W. Blalack, Sr.; sons, John W. Blalack, Jr. and wife Becky, and Mitch Blalack; daughter, Mary Anne Blalack; grandson, John Louis Blalack; and sister, Rose Mary Clark.

In consideration of the health and welfare of their friends and neighbors, the Blalack family has chosen to have private family graveside services for Anne.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
