Annie Ruth Alford

Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00pm, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Monday, May 12, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Rosemont Memorial Gardens.

She was born Tuesday, October 24, 1933 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Pettus McKinney and Mattie Sandiford McKinney.

Mrs. Alford was a member of Southside Assembly of God in Jackson. She dearly loved children, and operated a daycare in her home for more than 40 years. A loving and caring neighbor and friend, she always thought of others before herself. She enjoyed tending her flowers and truly had a “green thumb.” But her favorite times were spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Alford; and her faithful canine companion, Matti.

Survivors include son, Mac Alford; daughters, Sharon Hawkins and husband Gary and Tabitha Smith; brother, Roy McKinney and wife Jane; grandchildren, Cable Hawkins, Cole Hawkins, Madilyn Burrell, Dexter Hosey, Chassidy Bradshaw and Gabby Rials; and great-grandchildren, Cole Hosey and Brecken Burrell.
