

Born in Roanoke, Alabama on October 5, 1946, to Mr. James Woodrow Elrod and Mrs. Selma Steinbach Elrod.
Barbara graduated from Auburn University in 1969 with a degree in homemaking and majored in clothing and textiles with a minor in retailing. She worked at Rich’s in Atlanta, Georgia until marrying Kenneth Stuckey in 1970.
Barbara earned a certificate of Master Food Preserver from North Carolina State which she applied in making jelly, canning and freezing vegetables, and supervising the State Fair canning exhibit. She enjoyed craftwork, sewing, and used her training in fabric draping to make her on flat patterns. She was a member of the sewing guild and homemaker’s clubs. She was an avid reader. She loved traveling and seeing different areas of the country.
She was a member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl, Mississippi, where she sang in the choir, served as church librarian, and taught the 4-year-old Sunday School class.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Stuckey of Pearl; brother, Gene Elrod (Barbara) of Washington, D.C; and sister, Carole Ray (Kenny) of Dadeville, AL. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00am-11:00am at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl, Mississippi. A Celebration of Life service will be held following at 11:00am.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Spears, Mike Saulsbury, Scott Carter, and
Cody Robertson.
The honorary pallbearers are the members of the Thursday morning prayer group.
