Billie Rae McFarland

Billie Rae McFarland, 93, of Brandon, MS, passed away January 5, 2021, at Castlewoods Place Memory Care located in Castlewoods.
She was born in Albany, Texas and spent her childhood in Odem, Texas.
Billie Rae was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Myrl Childress, sister Patsy Childress Scull, and her husband Lee J. McFarland. She was also preceded in death by Tico, a lap dog that never left her side.
She is survived by daughter JoGayle Jones (Sammy) of Frisco, Texas, Gary Lee McFarland (Rena) of Madison, Ms. Grandchildren : Kimberly Weakly (Danny) of Little Elm, Texas, Michelle Flory (Jason) of Frisco, Texas, Molly Nickoles (Brian) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Maurijo Childress (Jeff) of Madison, Ms. Great grandchildren : Olivia Flory, Nathan Flory, Shelby Weakly, Bailey Weakly, Braxton Nickoles, Macie Nickoles, Ajalee Childress, Zeke Childress and Kylee Childress.
Billie Rae was married to husband Lee for 62 years until his death in 2008. She talked often about their early years of married life and how much fun they had at the University of Texas in Austin where Lee was a student. Lee’s career brought them to Mississippi in 1967 and Billie Rae started working for Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Billie Rae retired early so she and Lee could travel the country and camp in their RV. They enjoyed many years with their camping club and life on the water at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Billie Rae was known by all as a very supportive and loving wife and mother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fannin.
