Billy Daniels was the epitome of a self-made man. His incredible work ethic and sense of pride in his work served him well throughout his varied career. Billy was never afraid to jump feet first into any project, and whether he crossed the finish line first or last, he took what he could from each experience in life, and persevered.
Billy farmed for many years, clearing land and establishing working farms throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Later he worked for more than 20 years in car sales with Herrin-Gear, where his innate ability to speak easily with others and his true interest in people established him as a top sales performer year after year.
Billy was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he delighted in spending time with his family. He endeavoured to instill that same sense of pride in accomplishment in his family, and his caring lessons of hard work and commitment will long be his legacy of love to them.
Billy was a consummate outdoorsman, with his free time primarily spent fishing and hunting, and over the years he took many trips to Colorado and Canada hunting diverse game including bear, moose, and elk. Although his dream to hunt in Alaska was not fulfilled on this side of Heaven, Billy has now entered the Lord’s greatest forest.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Mary Alice Phillips Daniels, in 2011.
Survivors include children, Carol Stewart and husband Bubba, Larry Daniels and wife Marcia, and Bill Daniels and wife Julie; grandchildren, Marianna Swarthout and husband Richard, Kirk Stewart, Amy Robinson and husband Marshall, Travis Daniels and wife Kendall, and Emily Daniels; great-grandchildren, Taylor Stewart, Kirkum Stewart, Seth Robinson, Wyatt Robinson, and Addie Robinson; and his faithful canine companion, Penny.
