Billy was born in Smith County on February 12, 1935. He moved to Rankin County in 1959 and has lived there since. Billy worked for Graves Construction for Mr. G. H. Graves of Brandon and remained friends until Mr. Graves’ passing. Billy also worked for the City of Brandon as superintendent over the water department.
For nearly 30 years after that, he supplied security at the Capital Towers bldg. in downtown Jackson. He loved the job and the people there, too. One of his favorite tasks was maintaining the Cross of lights on that building each year at Christmas and Easter.
Billy left this world to be with his wife in heaven, Barbara Cille Jordan, exactly 15 years to the date of her death.
He is also preceded in death by his mother and father, Horace and Flonnie Jordan; brothers, Newell, JW, and Horace Jr. Jordan; and his sister, Mary Magdalene Easterling. He is survived by his sister, Ouida Parker of Raleigh; son, Jimmy Jordan (Deena) of Pearl, MS; daughter, Shirley Sherman (James) of Jackson, MS; grandson, Erik Marble of Brandon, MS; granddaughters, Jenna Jordan of Memphis, TN, Rachel Greene of Pearl, MS, Candice Quick (Josh) of Brandon, MS; great grandson, Connor Bryce Jordan; and great granddaughters, Braelynn Cille Jordan, Mackenzie Leigh, Lily Annslie, and Emmie Jane.
Visitation for Mr. Jordan will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home and Friday, January 18, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 11:00 am at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations honoring Billy be made to Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon, MS or Blair E Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS.
