He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 11, 1937, to the late Mr. Edward Y Morrison and Mrs. Della Moriah Swift Morrison. From the beginning, his life reflected a faithful spirit and an honest, grounded approach to the world—values that guided him through every season and relationship.
A beloved and cherished presence to those who knew him, Billy will be remembered for the steady strength of his character—his compassion, loyalty, and thoughtful way of caring for others, offered quietly and sincerely.
A devoted and hard-working man, Billy built a remarkable career with Wal-Mart, serving as District Manager at many stores throughout the country. After 38 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Clinton, Mississippi Wal-Mart as Manager. Through decades of work, he earned respect not by seeking attention, but through consistency, generosity of time and effort, and the kind of wise leadership that made others better simply by working alongside him.
Billy married Mrs. Karen Dunkin, on April 15, 1974, and to this union they were blessed with one daughter and three sons. He took deep pride in his family, and those closest to him knew the strength of his devotion—steady, faithful, and enduring. He believed in doing what is right, in showing up, and in passing along a strong work ethic, especially to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through both words and example.
In his everyday joys, Billy’s warmth shone through. He loved spending time with family, bird watching, and he was passionate about his work. He also loved building bird houses so much that he became known as the “bird house man”—a simple, fitting name for someone whose generosity and care were often expressed through what he made with his own hands.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Karen Morrison; son, Billy Morrison, Jr.; parents, and all his siblings.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Alicia Knight; sons, Warren Morrison and James Morrison; grandchildren, Keegan Morrison, Aidan Morrison, Brent Morrison, Nena Crouch, Ben Morrison, Katelyn Felty (Chase), four great-grandchildren; daughter in law Sharon Morrison; and a host of nieces and nephews.
