

Charles W. Evans, a devoted husband, father, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was 90 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born on August 31, 1934, in Carthage, MS, Charles was the son of James Vinson Evans and Ima Leona Bounds Evans. He grew up in Carthage and later moved to Pearl, where he graduated from Pearl High School. In 1953, Charles proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor. After his time in the Navy, he returned to Pearl, marrying the love of his life, Shirley Ann Evans. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter while raising their two sons, Lee, and Glen.
Charles was a man of quiet strength and boundless love, finding his greatest joy in his family. He was a devoted father, always present with wisdom, encouragement, and an unwavering belief in his sons.
An enthusiastic traveler and avid golfer, Charles embraced life with a zest that was inspiring to all who knew him. Saturdays were reserved for cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, a beloved tradition he shared with his sons. His infectious spirit, sharp sense of humor, and love for the simple joys of life made him a treasured presence in the lives of many.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Evans; his parents, James Vinson, and Ima Leona Evans; and his brothers, A.B., Cecil, and James Evans. He is survived by his two devoted sons, Lee and Glen Evans, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Trey, Traci, and Rachel Evans, and his beloved great-grandchildren, Reece and Palmer Romero.
A visitation to honor Charles’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m., celebrating the life of a man who touched so many hearts.
Charles W. Evans will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, his steadfast devotion to his family, and a life well lived. He leaves a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will endure forever.
