Coleen Jolley Statum, 62, passed from this life Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Brandon. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, 9:30-11:00am, prior to services at the church.

Mrs. Statum was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She retired from the Rankin County School District in 2011 following a 12 year career as a high school teacher. A life-long member of Girl Scouts, she served as an active troop leader for more than 30 years. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed crafting beautiful keepsakes, including christening gowns for her daughters and granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her son, Zachary Statum, in 2012.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Clifford Statum; sons, Coleman Statum and wife Bethany, Cody Statum and fiancée Cassie Slater; daughters, Robyn Statum and Rebecca Statum; and grandchildren, Kaleb and Noah Shook, Kayli, Caden and Rylan Statum.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ms Coleen gave us a many a laugh at times. It was an honor to take care of her at Ochsner's. She is thought of fondly. Robyn, you are a strong woman and a fantastic daughter. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to hear of Colleen's passing. She was such an upbeat, energetic person and I am glad to have known her along with the entire Statum family. I have so many fond memories of all those years with Robyn and Coleman and our "band family". Your family has truly touched my heart.
