Connie Leona Noland Simon, 83, a resident of Brandon, died February 16, 2025. She was born July 17, 1941, in Livingston/Madison County, Mississippi, of the late Albert William Noland and Leona Johnson Noland.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Jeffrey Simon; brother and sister-in-law, Albert E. Noland and Jo Beth Noland; sister, Carol Noland; sister and brother-in-law, Elsie Noland Johnson and Fred G. Johnson, Sr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Ruby Louise Noland Mashburn and Colonel Wilbur Franklin Mashburn.
Connie met and married the love of her life, Jeffrey Simon, while studying cosmetology at Hinds Junior College. She assisted him in his business as she grew their family. Connie and Jeffrey, who were inseparable, believed in service work to their church and to others. She was a former girl scout leader and volunteered her time and talent styling hair at the local nursing home, as noted in the local newspaper.
Family and friends reflect on her superb talents at cooking, beautifully decorated holiday tables, and immaculately clean home. Connie and Jeffrey will also be remembered for their large garden, consisting of the most plentiful and delicious cantelope and tomatos, which they generously donated to friends and family.
Connie truly embraced life, giving of herself in service to others. She was full of spunk and remained so to the end. Connie loved to quote from her favorite movies, “Gloria” and “Jose Wales”.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Simon and wife Terri; daughter, Renee Lee and husband Joe; grandchildren, Josh Simon and wife April, Elaina Bergeron, and Amber Norris; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
