David Joe Rigsby, of Pelahatchie MS, passed away on October 31, 2026 at the age of 68, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
David Joe was a hardworking man with a heart full of love and a personality that was impossible to forget. For 45 years, he proudly drove a dump truck, a career that was more than just a job to him. It was something he took tremendous pride in and a part of who he was. He believed in an honest day’s work, but he also believed that life was meant to be enjoyed. With his playful pranks and endless jokes, David Joe could bring laughter into almost any situation. David Joe also had a deep love for music. He loved the joy that music brought into a room and the memories made when people came together through a song. He made many memories with his family, who he loved dearly.
For forty years David Joe was a devoted husband to Debbie. They were more than husband and wife; they were soulmates, best friends, and each other’s person through every season of life. In those forty years their love brought two blessings, their son David Joe Jr and Brittany. Though his son’s life was cut short unexpectedly, the love he had for his children was never ending. His daughter, Brittany, was the light of his life, his pride and joy, and forever Daddy’s little girl. More than father and daughter, they shared a special friendship filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. His fatherly love extended to Brittany’s friends as well, many of whom knew and loved him as a second dad. There was always room for one more at his table.
Then came three more reasons for his heart to grow: Adelyn, Carsyn, and Landry. Being their Pawpaw was one of his greatest joys. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and the love he had for each of them was immeasurable. His laughter, his stories, and the memories made together will remain a part of their lives forever.
David Joe was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Joe Rigsby Jr.; his mother, Josephine Hall; his father, Paul Edward Rigsby; and his sister, Evelyn Monroe.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Debbie Rigsby; his cherished daughter, Brittany Armes (Justin); and his three precious grandchildren, Adelyn “Addy” McGinty, Carsyn McGinty, and Landry Armes.
He is also survived by his siblings, Debbie Irby (David), Michelle Cotton, Lee Rigsby, Jerry Rigsby, and Wayne Rigsby (Christopher); along with his beloved nieces and nephews and their wonderful families, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind countless dear friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.
David Joe leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years alone. It is found in 40 years of love and devotion to his wife, the unbreakable bond between a daddy and his little girl, the joy of three grandchildren who knew him as Pawpaw, the pride he took in 45 years of hard work, and the countless smiles he brought to those around him.
There will be an empty place at the table, a familiar voice missing from conversations, and laughter that will never sound quite the same. But his love will remain in every memory, every family gathering, every story retold, and every joke that brings a smile through the tears.
David Joe spent his life giving those around him a reason to laugh, and he leaves behind a lifetime of reasons to smile when they remember him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home with burial at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, Mississippi.
