It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Herrington Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, who left this world on July 29, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on January 30, 1954, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Debbie was the cherished daughter of Elmer and Bonnie Herrington. Her life was a shining example of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity, which she shared with all who had the privilege to know her.
Debbie's journey was marked by her deep devotion to her family and community. On June 14, 1975, she married the love of her life, Larry D. Johnson, with whom she shared 46 joyous years. Together, they nurtured a loving home and raised two wonderful sons, Jason and David Johnson, with whom she shared countless memories filled with laughter and warmth.
Debbie's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family into her professional life. She dedicated 52 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse, most of which were spent at Lakeland Nursing Center, where her compassion and dedication to helping those in need left an indelible mark. Her career was a testament to her caring heart, always ready to provide a comforting presence and a helping hand to those in her care.
Outside her professional life, Debbie found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening and canning, often sharing the fruits of her labor with her neighbors. An avid reader, she cherished moments lost in the pages of a good book. Her welcoming nature and generous spirit made everyone feel valued and embraced, a testament to her warmth and kindness.
Debbie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Larry, but her legacy lives on through her devoted sons, Jason and David, and her treasured grandchildren, Destiny, Heather, and Jacob Johnson, who were her pride and joy. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a beacon of love and kindness.
