The family will receive friends from 9:30am until 11:00am on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church in Star. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am that same day in the Church. Burial will take place afterwards at Wesleyanna Cemetery in Star.
He was born on June 5, 1944 to the late Dempsey and Lola Dell Smith Lee in Star, Mississippi. Dempsey proudly served our country in the United States Army Reserve and was a member at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church in Star. He worked as a carpenter with Jackson Public School District. In his free time, he could be found out in the yard tending to his esteemed lawn and his notable garden. Dempsey also enjoyed the Wagon Train at Dixie National.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Myra, Tommy, Ray, and Roy.
Dempsey is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Diann Lee; sons, John Earl Lee (Irene) and Timothy "Scott" Lee (Renee); sisters, Annie Lue Cook and Nina Pugh (Richard); grandchildren, Jeremy Lee (Natlie), Caleb Lee, Karley Smith, Triston Lee, Taylor Smith, and Haley Dixon (Mikhail); great-grandchildren, Savannah Lee and Anniston Lee; as well as a host of other beloved extended relatives and friends.
The immediate family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the many supporters who have shown them kindness during this difficult time.
