

Gary LaDon Watson, 72, passed away Tuesday, June 12th, 2012 at his home. Visitation was Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 5-8pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. A Memorial service was held at Pearl United Methodist Church at 11am on Friday, June 15, 2012,followed by a graveside service at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Brandon.
Gary LaDon “Don” Watson was born July 2nd, 1939 in Greene County, Mississippi and was the eldest son of the late Mr. Henry Franklin Watson and Eldress Watson.
Mr. Watson had a strong faith and was a long-time member (over 25 years) of Pearl United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served for many years on the Board of Trustees, and also as a long-time member of the church choir. Professionally, his illness required that he retire as a commercial construction superintendant from N&W construction; he also spent many years working for B.C. Rogers, Bar-Con, and Moss construction companies. He was an avid gardener, raising vegetables and fruit, and was also known for his love of racing and building race car engines. Mr. Watson had also been a member and past president of the Wahabi Shriners organization. He was always a very charitable and caring soul, taking in and helping people in need. He never met a stranger; anyone that ever met Don, would remember his witty and kind demeanor.
Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Henry Frank and Eldress Watson; and brothers, Wayne and Bobby Watson.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sherrie Dianne Watson; daughter, LaNell Watson Johns (Morgan); sons, Myron LaDon Watson (Angela) and David H. Watson, DVM (Jami); brothers, Robert, Oren, Joe, and Ronnie Watson; sister, Gloria; and grandchildren, Josh and Ashton Johns, Ryan, Alex, Connor, and Macie Watson, Geordan and L.A. Permenter, and Austin Sorenson; and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Watson requested that donations be made to the Youth Building Fund at Pearl United Methodist Church.
