He was born November 22, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Shay and Alta Mae Mortlend Shay of Missouri and his late wife Gina Penner Shay, formerly of Pearl, MS.
Don was one of the most interesting people to talk to. He was always full of tidbits of knowledge on the most random of topics. His career as a trucker allowed him to travel our country from one end to the other and filled him with stories beyond your imagination. He was an incredibly hard worker who made self sacrifices for the benefit of his family.
He was a big believer in education and had an appetite for knowledge. He was an avid reader and fantastic cook. He loved family get togethers where he could prepare a feast! You would never leave hungry.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include son, Mike Shay and daughter-in-law Leanna; stepdaughters, Brandi Davis, Kayla Davis, and Tara King and son-in law Bryan; grandchildren, Allie Shay, Emma Shay, Tyler Davis, Blaire Massey, Katy Grace King, and Madison King; sister, Nancy Oliver of Missouri; and nieces, Nikki and Ashley Ignacio.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 NIV
