She was born December 21, 1999, in Norwich, Connecticut. She moved from there to Zachary Louisiana, Plymouth Massachusetts, and finally Brandon Mississippi.
From an early age Donna displayed affection and concern for others, and she lived purposefully to make others feel welcome and cared for. Although Donna encountered many obstacles throughout her life, including periods of her childhood spent in foster homes, her heart for supporting and sustaining others was never lost.
Donna’s natural abilities as a “people person” served her well during her years of employment with University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), the Rankin County School District (in Mississippi), and Goodwill Industries in Brandon and Clinton, and she was well-liked by her coworkers.
Donna also had a huge love for animals. She adopted several rescue animals over the years and was a long-time volunteer for Community Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA).
Donna is survived by her adoptive mother and her partner Louise Behan and Phyllis Wood; and their children, Carl “C.J.” Del Vecchio, Isabel “Ivy” Del Vecchio, Giovanni Del Vecchio-Behan, Dana and Rose Wood. Her birth mother and step-father, Brandy Bonnin Horelick and Thomas Horelick; and their children Brianna Bonnin Jackman and her husband Samuel, Alexis Horelick, Gabriel Horelick, Chris Pelcher. Her birth father, Chris Bonin and his child, Tess Bonin; her grandmother, Donna Bonnin; her great-grandmother, Sandra Gilbert; great-aunt, Kathy Behan Crouse and her husband Michael; her boyfriend, Michael Elliott; and many, many friends.
We ask that in lieu of flowers you carry on a tradition of extreme kindness that permeated Donna throughout her short life and pay it forward. Treat every creature with honesty and respect. Make time for all the little gifts of friendship and care for those around you. And always take pleasure in the joy of life.
A prayer service and Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
