Dora Nell was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi on February 15, 1932, a daughter of the late Mr. Hezekiah Smith and Mrs. Katie Smith.
Nell’s life was marked by a steady devotion to those she loved and a faithfulness that guided her days with quiet strength. In the ways that mattered most—through honest words, compassionate care, and generous giving—she became a cherished presence to many and an enduring source of inspiration.
Nell married Mr. Charles E. Fisher on December 12, 1948, and to this union was placed with 4 sons. She poured herself into raising her family with the kind of hard-working devotion that asked for little recognition yet left a lasting imprint on the lives she touched.
A devoted caregiver in both spirit and practice, Nell found purpose in tending to others and in the simple, sustaining work of home. She was also known for her cooking, especially her famous blueberry cobbler, chicken and dumplings, and banana pudding—meals and desserts that carried warmth, comfort, and the unmistakable care she put into everything she did.
Dora Nell will be remembered as beloved and deeply cherished—compassionate, faithful, and honest; generous with her time and heart; and inspirational in the example she set through a life of steadfast devotion.
Nell is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles E. Fisher, Sr.; son, Johnnie Ray Fisher; and her 9 siblings.
