Doris was born January 16, 1932, in Weehawken, New Jersey, the only child of the late Arnold Miniard and Willie Mae Herring Miniard.
Doris was a long time member of McLaurin Heights Baptist Church, and in more recent years a member of Park Place Baptist Church. Very strong in her faith, Doris was dedicated to her church, teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir. She was always available for anything the church needed assistance with, and following her retirement she traveled with fellow church members on mission trips.
Doris enjoyed a lengthy career in the nursing ministry, serving at many area hospitals as well as teaching nursing at various college nursing programs. Doris had a true heart for service to others and in her retirement years she volunteered her nursing abilities to serve at the Baptist building, the Jackson Medical Mall, and the women’s prison. Her most personal nursing duty was as a compassionate caregiver for her husband during his twilight years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marlton “Jack” Bryant; and grandson, Martin Bryant.
Survivors include children, Glenn Bryant (Glenda), Mark Bryant (Beth), Sandra Estes, Eddie Bryant, Judy Osteen (Walt), and Cathy Partie (Jim); grandchildren, Jason Bryant, Jennifer Elrod, Shelby Bryant, Kevin Bauder, Kylie Boring, Jason Partie, Michael Bryant, and Chris Lawrence; and 12 great-grandchildren.
