Dorothy Guthrie Williamson, affectionately known as Dot and Dotsie, passed away in Jackson, MS, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Services will be held on May 31st at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS (visitation at 1 p.m.; funeral at 2 p.m.). Dot’s final resting place will be alongside her late husband, A.C. Williamson, at Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson.
Dot is survived by her sons, Craig Allen Stevens of Ridgeland, and Jon Marc Stevens and his wife Emily of Madison, along with their seven-year-old son, Jonathan Ryder Stevens. Loved as her own, Dot also leaves behind her stepdaughter, Vicki Garcia, and husband Ed of Brandon, as well as their children, Tony and Elise, and their families. Dot was fortunate to have had numerous nieces and nephews who showered her with love throughout her life, all of whom she adored. Lastly, in an impressive feat of longevity, she is also survived by her 99-year-old brother, Herb Guthrie, of Clinton.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, J.W. Stevens and A.C. Williamson; stepchildren, Jacque Stevens Mossie, Teresa Williamson Fuller, and Anthony Williamson; her parents, Walter and Jennie Guthrie; and seven siblings.
Dot was born Dorothy Faye Guthrie on September 19, 1939, in Yazoo County, MS. After graduating from high school, she began working at South Central Bell in downtown Jackson, where she developed an interest in collecting small bells. A long-time employee, Dot loved to fondly tell others that she "worked at the telephone company."
In her twenties, she married J.W. Stevens and warmly embraced his daughters, Jacque and Vicki. In 1967, she welcomed her first son, Craig, and in 1977, her second son, Marc, completed her family.
Later, Dot married Asa “A.C.” Williamson, again lovingly blending families. She enjoyed traveling with A.C. to car auctions and listening to country music, especially her favorite artist, Loretta Lynn. Dot and A.C. were blessed with 23 years of devoted marriage. After his passing in 2013, she and her lifelong best friend—her sister Carolyn—began living together. Extended family looked forward to visiting the pair often, as their sassy banter and spirited antics entertained everyone.
In 2018, at the age of 78, Dot beamed with pride as she held her first and only biological grandchild, Ryder. Known as “Nana,” she spent her final three years in the care of Marc and Emily, savoring countless cups of hot coffee and indulging in her favorite foods—sweets and anything fried. Her love of family stronger than ever, she relished frequent visits from Craig and lunch outings with her nieces and brother.
Dot will forever be remembered as a gentle soul and a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend who revered God and deeply cherished her family.
