She was born on June 1, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late George Edward Bass and Verna May Davis Bass. Elaine worked for several years as a realtor at Jenkins & McCurley, and she worked as a bank teller which suited her sunny disposition. In her free time, she liked fishing and being out on her boat. Elaine had a heart of gold, always calling to check on others and remembering every important date or detail without fail. She never forgot anything and took meticulous notes. Elaine had an oath for no one to ever go to bed mad, even if she herself was upset and always ended everything with a kiss (mwah!). Bad days were no such thing to her when she had her loved ones to be grateful for. Every day started with checking her journal for the daily positive note which she would share with others to brighten their day, and she could rely on them to comfort her during bad weather, which she detested. Elaine had a reputation for doting on her daughter and then on her grandchildren, talking on the phone to them daily and eagerly awaiting pictures and updates on what they had going on. Family was everything to her and Elaine called her grandson, Joey, her "Little Angel" though all her loved ones were precious and close to her heart. She also took under her wing, Del, who affectionately called her "Mama Elaine”, as with so many others that came to know and love her through the years. Del made a special impression on her heart. Her niece, Chris, helped her in more ways than anyone knows and stayed with her until the very end. Though miles separated her from the rest of her family, there was still a constant presence in each others lives through phone calls and checking each others lottery numbers. After losing her husband, Terry in 2009, she found Beau and learned to love again. Even after Beau's passing, she continued to smile and make the best of each and every day with the support of family and friends like her good friend Reggie. Elaine seemed to just always had love to give; at the end of her journey called life, though in pain and discomfort, she still recited her comforting motto to others about how everything will be alright and telling them "We'll get through it."
In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her big sister whom she adored, Johanna Lang; niece, Shannon Lang; and 2nd nephew Michael Vinson.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne "A" Crowley (Mark); grandchildren, Mary, Montie, and Joey; brother-in-law, David Lang; sister-in-laws, Laura Lundstrom, Lala Murphy, Marian DeLaughter, and Nancy Williams; niece, Susan "Chris" Cleland; nephew, Jody Lang; as well as a number of other beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
