

Visitation is 5:00-8:00pm Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Truitt Memorial Baptist Church in Pearl. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born December 5, 1930 in Woodland, Mississippi, a son of the late Calvin Edgar Eaton and Rendia Logan Eaton.
Mr. Eaton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a medic during the Korean War. He received the Combat Medical Badge for his work with the 1st Calvary Division, Eighth Regiment “Scrappy Pill” Medical Unit, and was on duty Halloween night, 1950, when the Chinese Communists crossed the Yalu River.
Following his military service, he attended college on the G.I. Bill. He served as an X-Ray Tech for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital while pursuing his degree from Memphis State University. He later moved to Pearl and was employed for 29 years with the Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation Services for the State of Mississippi.
Mr. Eaton owned and operated Eaton’s Trophies in Pearl for more than 15 years. A member of the Exchange Club, he was recognized as Exchangite of the Year in 1996 and Veteran of the Year in 2001. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
A member of Truitt Memorial Baptist Church for more than 50 years, his dedicated service included serving as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendant, Chairman of the Building Committee for the Reeves Annex, coaching the men’s basketball, volleyball and softball teams, as well as many other leadership positions in the church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeannine Todd Eaton; son, Andrew J. “Andy” Eaton and wife Betty; daughter, Luellen Eaton Oliver and husband James; grandchildren, Mary Oliver Snow, Hannah Oliver and Dillon Eaton; and great-grandchild, Gage Oliver Snow.
