Mr. Hegwood was born September 10, 1924, in Mize, Mississippi, a son of the late Dewey and Wessie (Glisson) Hegwood. He was a member of Pearl United Methodist Church and Plain Lodge #622 F&AM in Richland. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Hegwood served our country during WWII. His career was in construction, and he was involved in the building of several buildings and structures in the Jackson area. Although a very quite man, he was very “old school” and he generally made sure it was done “his way”. When he spoke, you listened, and many lives have been enriched by his words of wisdom.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Hegwood in 2014; and siblings, Charles Hegwood, Nita Martin, and Adake Howell.
Survivors include daughter, Theresa Robertson and husband Bob; grandchildren, Mickey Robertson and wife Suzanne, Brad Robertson and wife Dianne, and Matt Robertson; great-grandchildren, Blake Robertson, Lauren Robertson, and Neely Robertson; and sisters, Betty Pope and husband James, and Bobbie Cochran.
