He was born May 3, 1930, in Leake County, Mississippi, the son of the late Jasper Newton Beckham and Lillie Thornton Beckham.
A veteran of the U. S. Army, Mr. Beckham proudly served our country during both WWII and the Korean War. He was a specialized mechanic for Robinson and Hill Oil for more than 20 years. Mr. Beckham was a "people person", and enjoyed helping others whenever he could. In his free time he liked to fish, hunt, ride his bicycle, and keep plenty of firewood cut, but the times he enjoyed most were spent at home with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Beckham; daughter, Gerri Beckham Yelverton; brother, Royce Beckham; sister, Doris Kas; grandson, Ryan VanGordon; and great-grandchildren, Payton and Stone VanGordon.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to their close friend, Susan Lewis, and the staffs of MS Home Health Care, the V.A. Hospital, and Sta Home Hospice for their compassionate care.
