He was born on July 24, 1946 to the late Rex Otto Kelly and Mabel Rebecca Wilson Kelly in Sidon, Mississippi. Jimmy made a living inventing various agricultural apparatuses. He enjoyed working with his hands and in his later years, built his own shelves in the garage for his extensive collection of literature. Jimmy was an avid reader over the past decade, but delighted in visits from his neighbors who often found him out in the carport smoking, puffing away with his nose in a book. A natural jokester, one couldn't help but find themselves thoroughly entertained when around Jimmy. Full of life and known to lightheartedly pick on people, even his in-laws, nearly everyone can fondly recall at least one of the many silly antics he had pulled. Fishing, usually at the Ross Barnett reservoir, was his other pastime of choice.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Wayne Kelly, Jr.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Kelly; sons, Stephen Paul Kelly and Timothy Kelly; brother, Larry Kelly; and numerous other family members.
Private services will be held.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.baldwinleepearl.com for the Kelly family.
