

Jim proudly served his country from 1951-1955 in the United States Navy in Aviation Ordinance and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He attended Mississippi College where he earned his bachelor's degree. Jim went on to open and run a very successful men's clothing store "Jim's of Jackson" in Jackson, Mississippi. He had a passion for jewelry and worked in the industry for decades. Jim was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Jackson.
Jim enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with family, friends and his dogs. He had a love for music and football, and his sense of humor was unrivaled. He loved others selflessly and fiercely.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Sherry Stodghill Martin of 31 years; two sons, Michael (Kathy) Martin and Kenny (Robin) Martin; four grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole, Blake (Stephanie) and Chase (Taren) and three great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Dean and Stella Grace; and his companion of 11 years, Jessie the Pomeranian.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Howard; mother, Luberta; stepmother, Anna Margaret; and his three brothers, Joe, Howard, and Ernie.
Services will be held at 10am on Friday, August 9 at Fellowship Baptist Church of Jackson.
