Jane was born in Magee, MS on December 17, 1952 to Leland Howard “Bill” and Cleo Shoemaker Thames. She graduated from Magee High School and attended Jones Junior College. A talented musician, Jane served as pianist for her home church. Jane married Terry Pittman on January 15, 1977 and they made their home in Brandon raising their three children. As a dedicated member of Crossgates Baptist Church, Jane served as a member of the choir for many years. Jane later became a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as pianist.
Until her retirement, Jane was employed as Purchasing Agent at Hudspeth Regional Center in Whitfield, MS and was an active member of the Mississippi Association of Governmental Purchasing and Property Agents.
A devout and exemplary Christian, Jane humbly lived her faith and never wavered even when faced with devastating life experiences. Selfless, Jane always put others first and was devoted to her husband and children, and grandchildren, the center of her world. She was a loving and loyal friend. Jane was a living example to all who knew her of what it means to serve the Lord.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Alan Pittman, her husband, Terry Pittman and her brother, Billy Thames. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Dixon (Jeremy) of Brandon, and Alicia Harris (Kris) of Brandon; grandchildren, Alan and Maddie Grace Lee, Brooks Dixon and Katelyn and Logan Harris; five sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Baldwin Lee funeral home in Pearl from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon at 2:00 on Sunday, March 18 with burial to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
