

Visitation will be held 9:00am-11:00am, Monday, June 24, 2013 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Jean was born September 24, 1922 in Union, a daughter of the late Leo and Winnie Phillips Service. She graduated from Union High School, Draughn’s Business College, and attended Hinds Community College.
She was executive secretary to the Motor Vehicle Comptroller of MS, served as administrative assistant to the Mayor of Jackson, Russell C. Davis from 1969-1977, and retired from the MS State Tax Commission.
Having lived in Jackson most of her adult life, she and her husband of 53 years, the late John L. Sullivan, Sr., moved to Brandon, where they were charter members of Brandon Baptist Church.
She had a deep interest in studying the Bible, reading, and painting. She loved to travel and experience new places and things.
Her smile would brighten any day and she had such a kind heart and loving spirit. Jean was a precious Christian mother, a loving wife, loyal friend and a gracious, beautiful lady.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, A.L. Service, and sister, Frances Kirby McKay.
Survivors include daughter, Jennifer F. Sullivan of Brandon; sons, Charlie Sullivan (Sissy) of Inverness, MS, and John L. Sullivan, Jr. (Nancy) of Madison; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 niece and several nephews.
