She was born July 21, 1936, in Jackson, a daughter of the late J.L. and Ruth Barlow Mahaffey.
Throughout her life Jeanette’s family was her constant focus and she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Widowed at a young age Jeanette was faced with raising her sons as a single mother. Through courage and determination she endured and provided the best life she could for her boys.
Jeanette retired from McRae’s/Saks after more than 39 years of dedicated service. In her free time she enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her flowers and plants, hunting and fishing. A gifted artisan Jeanette spent much of her retirement years crafting. She was known for creating beautiful and interesting treasures from items many people would have discarded.
Jeanette delighted in humor and her laugh was infectious. She loved life and people and could easily find reason to smile about both. Jeanette’s legacy of dedication to family and appreciation for a job well done will long resonate with all who were blessed to have known her.
In addition to her parents Jeanette was preceded in death by husbands, James Throne, Sr., and Bobby Bridges; son, James Throne, Jr.; sisters, Louise Faden, and Edna Mae Breazeale; and her faithful canine companion, Minnie Pearl.
