Jerry was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 21, 1953, to Mr. Oscar Dewitt Mullins and Mrs. Margaret Neal Mullins.
A mechanic at heart, Jerry could work on anything with an engine and was never afraid to get his hands dirty. His hard-working spirit and steady honesty were evident in the way he approached both labor and life—showing up, doing what needed to be done, and doing it with care. Alongside that dependability was a warm, compassionate nature and a generous way of treating people that made others feel welcome.
Jerry also found joy in the character and history of antiques, a love that reflected an appreciation for craftsmanship and the stories objects can carry. He also had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano and guitar when he could. Those who knew him best will remember that even in the most ordinary moments, his humor had a way of easing the day and drawing people together.
Above all, Jerry was beloved and cherished for the way he loved others—he never met a stranger, and his kindness reached far and wide. Most of all, his heart belonged to his grandchildren, and his legacy will live on in the love he gave them and the memories they will carry forward.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Diane Mullins; and his parents.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Lee Mullins (Jamie), Jerry Joe Mullins, and Jeremy Chad Mullins; and his grandchildren, Angel Mullins Rector (Drew), Gracelynn Mullins, Jacob Mullins, Gary Mullins, II, and Ginger Mullins.
Jerry will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who had the privilege to get to know him.
The family will hold private services at a later date.
