

Kathleen Butler Griffith went home to be with the Lord on December 4th. She fought a long battle with chronic lung disease. She passed from complications due to pneumonia while in the ICU in Shreveport, LA.
Ms. Griffith was born on October 9, 1932 in Brookhaven, MS. Her parents who preceded her in death are Malloy Franklin Butler (Steve) and Allie Lee Pennington Butler. She was widowed in 1964 from her husband James Hal Hughes, Sr. She taught in the Jackson Public School system for 32 years. She loved teaching and felt called to serve the community in this way. She retired in 1987. She worked for Sears and Roebuck from 1980 to 2002.
She was raised in a family of 4: James Edward Butler married to Jean Butler, Malcom (Buck) Butler married to Laura Bell Butler, Dorothy Butler McLellan (deceased) who was married to Everett McLellan (deceased), Jack Eugene Butler (deceased) who was married to Janell Butler.
She is survived by her two children and 4 grandchildren. Her children are: James Hal Hughes II and Melissa Griffith Crusan married to Victor Edward Crusan. She loved and was important in the lives of her grandchildren: James Hal Hughes III (Tate) of Jackson, MS, Joel Marcus Hughes (Joey) of Dayton, OH, Madison Elizabeth Crusan of Shreveport and Jacob Edward Crusan (Jake) of Shreveport.
Graveside services with be at 10am on Saturday, December 8th at Floral Hills Cemetery in Pearl, MS. Services will be officiated by Eric Brown, a longtime family friend and pastor of CenterPoint Baptist Church. All funeral arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Lee Funeral Home of Pearl, MS.
