May 30, 1967 – September 12, 2020
Kathy Hopkins, 53, of Richland, Mississippi was unexpectedly called home to Jesus on the morning of Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 9:00pm on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, Mississippi. A celebration of her life and faith will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Pinelake Church-Reservoir Campus at 6071 Highway 25 in Brandon, Mississippi.
She was born May 30, 1967 in Jackson, Mississippi and is preceded in death by her parents, JC and Betty Lowry. She is survived by her three children, Dex Hopkins, Erin Hopkins, and Andrew Hopkins; two grandchildren, Noah Jones and Anna Keaton Hopkins; older brother, Mark Lowry; and older sister, Marie Spence. Amongst her family, we also count the multitudes of Godchildren she took under her wing throughout her life. She was a member of Pinelake Church for the past 11 years and worked as both a barber for Hair X-Press in Pearl, Mississippi for 20 years and, more recently, a Unit Secretary for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Kathy would tell you that she was far from perfect. She openly recognized her own faults and lived with them, unashamed of who she was, but she also recognized all the gifts she had been given. Her first gift was her children, all three of whom gave her joy and were her life’s work. If asked what she was most proud of in her life, without hesitation, she’d say her children and grandchildren. Secondly, she had an enduring spirit – after hitting what she felt was rock bottom in 2002, she felt the embrace of the Holy Spirit, and he renewed her life with a passion that helped her overcome every obstacle. There was no task too great or no trial too difficult for her; she found a way. Thirdly, she was empathetic. Somehow, she always knew when someone else was burdened with an emotional or mental weight, and she felt it as her own. She poured her heart into helping others, shouldering their burdens with them. There was no heart more open nor a heart more full of love than hers, and the world is a little less bright without her.
Kathy will be dearly missed by all of those who knew her.

I went to school with Kathy and had not seen her in years until a few years ago she cut my hair, and she was surprised that I still remembered her. She always had that type of personality that you never did forget her once you met her. She was always so sweet. Prayers to her family.

I am so sad that my dear friend Kathy has left us. I am praying so for her family. She was so proud of her children and adored her grandchildren. Kathy was the most encouraging and devout Christian I know. I will miss her so much but rejoice because I know she is with her dear Jesus.

I am so sorry and so sad to hear about Kathy's passing. She was a good friend to my mom for years. She was also my mom's hairdresser. Kathy was always telling us about her children. She was a very proud mama. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Johnnie(Joan Johnston's daughter and Lindsay Mosley's mom)
