There is a huge hole in our universe because he's gone from here.  We will miss his smile, his laugh, his friendship here on Earth but we'll hug his neck in heaven one day.  Rest in peace sweet friend.

What can I say that hasn't already been echoed here and other places. Your memory will always be etched in the forefront of my mind.

Larry was one of the biggest parts of my childhood. We would spend many holidays together as kids, riding our motorcycles all over the area, building forts and generally doing what young boys did before video games. My folks having a weekend home and eventually their permanent home in Fannin meant we would spend many weekends terrorizing the neighborhoods. There was always an adventure waiting for us.

As we grew up and had families and careers of our own, visits were only occasional. But I could always count on Larry showing up to come see us when we would come into town. We would always catch up immediately and it was like no time had passed.

When my father passed 20 years ago, Larry stepped in and looked after my mom, his aunt. He didn't have too, but he did. He helped her in so many ways I couldn't living so far away. It meant so much to me and will always be grateful to that, and unfortunately will never be able to repay him. But this story is not much different from many others.. he had a true servant's heart. 

Larry left a big mark on this world. He was loved and cherished by all those he came in contact with. It will hurt every time I visit and Larry is not there.  Rest in peace Larry.

Larry was such a great person.I’ve known him seems like forever as a classmate {class of 1986). He was wild and funny and there was never a dull moment around him. You will be dearly missed . Dragons forever. Praying for your family.

I was so sad to hear about Larry.  Through the years,  any time his name came  up in conversation, I would always tell people that “Larry Black is the reason high school was fun”.

From the first time I met Larry we became friends. He was one of the most genuinely friendly people that I met at FBC Fannin. He was always accommodating on the many security projects that we worked on together over the last six years. He always had a smile and a handshake waiting. He will be missed tremendously. 

Larry was the little boy who lived down the street and came to play with my children almost every day. They had such fun adventures from playing ball in the street, to bike riding and badminton in my front yard. They grew up together, went to school together and all ended up as neighbors on the same street raising their own children to grow up as friends. There are so many happy memories. 

Larry was a special person with a heart of pure gold and when he loved - he loved deeply - GOD, his Paralee, his children and grandchildren, his other family members and so many friends. He well deserves the wings he has gained. RIP in JESUS' loving arms. 💙

Me and Larry met when I was a young kid and he was on the fire department. We have been friends for years I dumped the gravel on his driveway and I knew his family and he knew mine he was always nice and kind wherever I saw him.To Parlee and the family  I know this is hard on youll and the kids but Larry loved you and the kids but he also had a good relationship with the lord. My prayer is that God will continue to strengthen you and your family during this difficult time. 

There was a natural tendency for me to be drawn to someone like Larry.  With his former public safety experience, as both a firefighter and deputy sheriff, I loved listening to all of his many stories he had.  As many have stated, these stories would always end with him grinning from ear-to-ear and laughing and you just couldn't get enough.  His stories always had you hanging on and wanting him to tell another one!  There are many people in the world who do so much for others and Larry was just that person.  I think it is true to say that Larry did not have to do most of what he did.  He WANTED to do it!  I felt it an honor to have spent time just listening to his stories and learning about one of the pillars of my church and community.  I am blessed to have got the time to listen and know one of God's servants while he was here.  

Larry was a larger than life person...a delight to be around.....he was always ready & willing to assist & always with a smile on his face.  On Sunday mornings he could always be found near the coffee serving area at FBC Fannin, standing around talking with everyone that passed his way.  He leaves a whole in our hearts....We thank God for allowing us to know & share a small part of Larry's life on earth & we will see him again in Heaven.

Larry always had a smile on his face and was ready to talk about any subject.   I really enjoyed his upbeat attitude.  He’s in the Lord’s  arms  now waiting on the rest of us to join him.  Prayers of strength to all of his family and friends. 

Words cannot express our deepest sadness.  Our family loved Larry so much.  There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for anyone who needed a hand.  He will be missed so much.  The thing that comes to mind is the Lord needed something fixed and knew Larry was the man for the job.  Our prayers are with the family.

Larry very literally gave me the shirt off his back.  I saw him at Lowe’s one day and I commented on his FBC Fannin T-shirt and how I wanted one.  Not too long after that Larry brought me the very same shirt he had worn that I had commented on.  I was shocked and tickled.  That is still one of my favorite t-shirts. He was the kindest most genuine person you could ever get to know and always had a welcoming smile whenever I set foot into the church.   He was one of the reasons I felt so comfortable calling FBC Fannin home while I lived in Mississippi.  My most sincere and heartfelt condolences from Texas.  

I will always remember Larry as one of the finest (and funniest) examples of a Christian I have ever known.
He is not gone. He is perfected!

You rarely saw Larry without a smile on his face & we're so gonna miss that big belly laugh of his!  One of his favorite comments after a church service was, "If that don't light your fire, your wood's wet!"   Losing him is such a gut-punch, but we know he's not gone forever.  Praise God, for those of us who are in Christ, there is no goodbye, only "See you later." 

Our deepest heartfelt sympathies for Paralee, Taylor, Mason, Morgan, his grand babies and all who knew and loved him (and there were many).  Heaven gained a special Angel. Fly high Larry. 

“Bond, James Bond” was how he introduced himself to me about 5 years ago. I called him “James” from that time on.  He was immediately a friend.  He always had a smile on his face and love in his heart for his fellow man. He would help you move a mountain if you asked him for assistance.   Larry was a great guy to be around. He’s no longer struggling to live.  He’s alive forever now, with our Lord and Savior. RIP my friend.  We’ll meet again.

Larry is survived by his wife, Paralee Black, and his kids and grandkids – Taylor, Morgan, Mason, Donavin, Kyla and Gabriel, as well as a host of family and friends.
