She was born October 18, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, a daughter of the late D.L. Horton and Ollie Lack Horton.
Linda enjoyed a lengthy career as a cosmetologist and owned and operated her own salon. She built lifelong friendships and relationships for over 50 years in a beauty shop that often felt more like a family. She found joy in helping people look and feel their best, and spending time in her chair was known to solve more than one problem at a time - those who know, know. In her free time she enjoyed reading, caring for her beloved animals, and spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Linda was a die-hard Disney fan, always up for a trip to Orlando. Her love for all things Disney compelled Linda to complete the comprehensive College of Disney Knowledge to become a certified Disney trip planner, and she delighted in assisting others with their travel arrangements. Linda rarely slowed down or took breaks, but when she did, she spent it in the most magical place on earth, with her family.
In addition to her parents Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Larry Magee; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and James Robert Thorne; brother, Jerry Horton; and brother-in-law, Dennis Alleman.
Survivors include son, Layne Magee and wife Kathy; daughter, Leanne Davis and husband Jim; sister, Carolyn Alleman; sister-in-law, Jenita “Shortie” Horton; grandchildren, Austyn Goss and husband Wendell, Grey Davis and wife Jordan, Anna Walker Davis, Jayci Magee, Jordyn Magee, and Bella Magee; great-granddaughter, Lena Davis; “adopted grandchildren”, Summer Hackler, Antonio Battista and wife Aleka; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
A Celebration Gathering to remember her life and legacy will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025, in the Heritage Room of Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home.
Attendees are encouraged to honor Linda’s fun-filled zeal by wearing their favorite Disney attire.
In lieu of flowers her family requests that donations be made to your local humane society or animal rescue shelter.
