Lynda D. Cooper

Lynda was born September 3, 1945, in Magee, a daughter of the late Herman William Cockrell and Wilma Luckey Cockrell.

Lynda was a true “people person” whose kindness and compassion touched everyone she met. She genuinely cared for others and always took an interest in their well-being. Her warm nature served her well throughout her lengthy career as a bookkeeper in the banking industry, where she met many people who became lifelong friends and earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

In 1976 she married her true love, William Allen 'Bill' Cooper, and they shared nearly 50 happy years together. Throughout their marriage, Bill was Lynda's steadfast source of strength and support. Together, they embraced life's many adventures as career changes and new opportunities led them on a remarkable journey.

Lynda and Bill were blessed with two sons, Dewayne and Tod, both of whom she was immensely proud. She cherished the men they became and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

In her free time Lynda enjoyed being with her family and friends, whether visiting, playing games, or simply enjoying one another's company. She especially loved cooking for her family, and her homemade desserts were always a much-anticipated treat.

Lynda enjoyed spending time at home on the property she shared with Bill. She found great joy in fishing, and Bill lovingly built a pond so she could fish whenever she wished. She also enjoyed tending to her many plants, taking pride in helping them grow and flourish.

Lynda’s legacy may best be described in this way: Lynda embraced life openly and lived it to the fullest, and the memory of her acceptance of life and all it offered will remain with those who loved her.

In addition to her parents Lynda was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Cockrell.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Cooper; sons, Dewayne Cooper and wife Jenny, and Tod Cooper and wife Darlene; sister, Brenda Langham; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
